BIZ Training helps with launch of sports
warm up rub.
By Chris Wilson
Since
1982, top athletes have benefited from a natural warm up rub
developed by sports injury consultant Warwick Lightbourne
for treating injuries and applying before sport. Now athletes
throughout the country will be able to use the product, Percutane,
when it is launched in August.
Mr Lightbourne was the sports therapist for Kenyan athletes
at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and runs the Cornwall Injury
Clinic in Auckland employing four physiotherapists. The
rub, Percutane has been used extensively by Kenyan runners
and also top New Zealand athletes. Percutane is a combination
of natural anti-inflammatory and liniment ingredients and
includes a marine extract to assist absorption through the
skin into the deeper tissues.
The rub will be marketed by a newly established company,
Clinical Technology (NZ) Ltd. Another sports injury product,
Thermastrap will also be marketed by the company. This is
a range of thermal supports also developed and tested at
the clinic.
Clinical Technology Launches into
Pharmacies.

It has been as about a successful launch into the
pharmacy market that naturopath Warwick Lightbourne could
have dreamed of. Just six weeks after his company
Clinical Technology moved into pharmacy distribution with
its range of natural health products, the company has being
forced to take on new staff. "The response has being
phenomenal" laughs Mr Lightbourne "We keep running
out of stock!" But in reality the trail blazing
launch of the company's patented Percutane anti-inflammatory
cream and the Thermastrap range of body supports has been
the result of 18 years steady research and development,
Prior to becoming a naturopath Mr Lightbourne had a background
in pharmaceutical manufacturing and promotion in New Zealand
and Australia....

An enterprise that began with a kitchen beater and microwave
now counts leading international athletes among its customers,
Over the years Percutane has been used by leading sports
figures including Kenyan Douglas Wakahuri and New Zealand
triathlete Erin Christie.
Warwick used to make small batches of Percutane - a patented
anti-inflammatory cream with his wife Kathy, using a microwave
and eggbeater. Without any advertising but plenty
word of mouth recommendations, Percutane has sold more than
20,000 units since it first became available, Besides Percutane
the company has developed the first New Zealand designed
thermal body supports - Thermastrap. The products
were developed for people coming for treatment at the clinic....

Issue 95 Aug/Sep 1999 pg 53 - Perk Up
"A new sports rub, Percutane combines natural anti-inflammatories
such as arnica, hypericum, capsaican and burdock with a
marine extract called Aqualane which helps your skin absorb
the anti-inflammatory ingredients.
Percutane can be used to relieve muscle, tendon and joint
injuries, bruises and strains. Plus it contains liniment
ingredients and so can be used for pre-sport warm up, limbering
stiff muscles or warming up in cold conditions. It also
helps with long term wear and tear; backache and neck ache,
OOS, arthritis, pain and swelling from over exercising.
When you rub it in, it feels warm and often subsequent exercise
will reactivate the warmth.
Non-Greasy, low odour, and aside from everything else feels
great with a massage, even if you aren't injured!"
